Wild Orchids
If you want to see orchids in their natural environment, the remarkable karst islands of Phang-Nga Bay are sure to please. February and March feature the flowering of several species, including Dendrobium secundum, Paphiopedilum exul and Paphiopedilum leucochilum.
Any time of year a variety of species can easily be seen from a kayak. Also, one lowland area of Khao Sok has many orchids growing on dead trees. It is a striking early morning sight to see these trees, bleached by sun and weather, emerging from the mist over the lake.
